Why Frame?

Why Frame?

Frame is a compliance infrastructure company powering payments for complex, highly regulated industries. We enable businesses to move money with confidence by embedding compliance and payments into a single, intelligent platform. Our ambition is to become the infrastructure layer that regulated businesses rely on to operate, scale, and access services globally.

At Frame, how we build matters as much as what we build. Our values shape how we work, make decisions, and support our merchants. We're headquartered in Los Angeles with a globally distributed team. We're committed to running an inclusive and accessible hiring process. If you need any adjustments along the way, let us know.

Let's solve problems together

The role

We are hiring a VP, Compliance to lead the design, build, and scale of Frame’s global compliance function.

This role is responsible for embedding compliance as a core product and operational capability, ensuring Frame can safely unlock high-complexity merchants while maintaining strong relationships with sponsor banks, schemes, and regulators.

You will work closely with Risk, Product, GTM, Legal, and Sponsor Bank partners to ensure compliance is not a blocker, but an enabler of growth.

What you'll do

  • Own compliance across Frame. Design scalable compliance frameworks whilst working with the risk and operation teams. This spans across AML, KYC/KYB, transaction monitoring, sanctions, and regulatory obligations.

Embed compliance into product and infrastructure. Partner with Product and Engineering to translate regulatory requirements into automated systems, workflows, and decisioning logic (frameOS).

  • Own sponsor bank and regulatory relationships. Work closely with our COO and act as the primary compliance counterpart to sponsor banks and partners, ensuring alignment on policies, controls, and new use cases.

  • Design compliance frameworks for complex verticals. Enable growth in higher-compliance industries (e.g. fintech, gaming, gambling, financial services) by building clear policies, controls, and approval pathways.

  • Ensure card scheme and network compliance. Maintain deep alignment with Visa/Mastercard rules, monitoring requirements, and program expectations to ensure sustainable scale.

  • Build scalable monitoring and reporting systems. Work with operations to define metrics, dashboards, and alerting frameworks across AML and compliance to support real-time and portfolio-level oversight.

  • Drive automation and efficiency. Identify opportunities to replace manual compliance processes with rule-based, ML, or AI-driven systems.

Partner with GTM and Risk on merchant lifecycle. Feed compliance insights into pre-vetting, underwriting, and in-life monitoring to improve decisioning quality and speed.

  • Define compliance strategy and risk appetite. Set guardrails on what Frame will and will not support, aligned with sponsor banks, schemes, and long-term brand positioning.

what we require

  • 10+ years of experience in compliance, AML, or regulatory roles within payments, fintech, or financial services. You have built or scaled a compliance function from scratch and have deep working knowledge of AML/BSA requirements, KYC/KYB frameworks, transaction monitoring and SAR processes, and sanctions/OFAC screening. You have strong familiarity with card scheme rules across Visa and Mastercard, and with sponsor bank program requirements.

  • You have worked closely with product and engineering teams to embed compliance into systems, and you are comfortable operating in high-growth, ambiguous environments where you have to build structure where none exists. Strong stakeholder management across internal teams, sponsor banks, and external partners is essential. Experience in regulated verticals like gaming, gambling, or financial services is preferred but not required.

you are someone who

Thinks of compliance as a product and a growth enabler, not just a control function. You enjoy solving complex regulatory and operational problems, taking ownership, and moving quickly while balancing speed with integrity. You have strong judgment, know when to escalate versus automate, and care deeply about quality, detail, and building systems that scale. You are comfortable with ambiguity and happy building from first principles in a fast-paced, high-ownership environment.

the fun stuff

  • $215,000 to $350,000 base + equity

  • Unlimited PTO, with trust to manage your own time.

  • A wellness budget covering dental, vision, and a free Equinox membership, plus team-led running and spin groups.

  • Daily lunch and a fully stocked snack kitchen in our Los Angeles office.

  • Apple hardware, Frame branded merch, regular company offsites, and a relocation package if you're not already local.

Life at frame

The way we build at Frame is grounded in our values. Alongside our operating principles, they shape how we work and how we win. We want our people to feel empowered, supported, and challenged, and for that to translate into how we serve our customers.

  • Start with Why - We ensure clarity of purpose before acting, building, or automating.

  • Bias to Action - We take ownership, move quickly, and iterate rather than waiting for perfect answers.

  • Rooted in Integrity - We do the right thing with data, money, partners, and decisions, especially when no one is watching.

  • Be Decent. Be Direct. - We collaborate with respect, clarity, and care, even in disagreement.

  • The Discerning Eye - We care deeply about quality, detail, and craft in how things look, feel, and work.
