want to solve complex problems?
Frame is a compliance infrastructure company powering payments for complex, highly regulated industries. We enable businesses to move money with confidence by embedding compliance and payments into a single, intelligent platform. Our ambition is to become the infrastructure layer that regulated businesses rely on to operate, scale, and access services globally.
At Frame, how we build matters as much as what we build. Our values shape how we work, make decisions, and support our merchants. We're headquartered in Los Angeles with a globally distributed team. We're committed to running an inclusive and accessible hiring process. If you need any adjustments along the way, let us know.
The role
We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the team building frameOS, the infrastructure layer that handles compliance, payments, identity, and fraud for high-compliance merchants. You will be responsible for the technical roadmap, engineering culture, and the quality of what ships. You will manage engineers, work closely with product and risk, and hold the bar for how we build. The problems are deep. The surface area is wide. This is not a maintenance job.
What you'll do
Own the engineering organization including structure, hiring, performance standards, and culture. Drive technical roadmap and architecture decisions across the full FrameOS platform. Build engineering processes that keep the team fast, focused, and accountable. Own relationships with Product, Risk, Compliance, and Operations, ensuring engineering serves the business and the business understands engineering. Hold a standard of craft including APIs that are obvious, systems that feel inevitable, and code that holds up.
what we require
7+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 in an engineering leadership role. Experience leading teams building financial infrastructure, payments, or compliance systems. Strong technical depth. You can get into the code when it matters. A clear point of view on how to build well, including abstractions, reliability, and developer experience. Low tolerance for artificial delay. You move teams forward and remove blockers before they compound. Track record of recruiting and retaining strong engineers.
Experience at a payment facilitator, processor, or regulated fintech is a strong plus, as is scaling an engineering team through a growth phase without losing quality. Hands-on experience with Rails, Go, or TypeScript at scale, or familiarity with card network rules, ACH, KYC systems, or chargeback infrastructure, is also valued.
you are someone who
Holds a high bar for craft and won't compromise it for speed, but won't compromise speed for craft either. You can move from architecture review to recruiting to a 1:1 to a code review without losing momentum. You build engineering organizations that ship quickly and consistently, and you remove blockers rather than absorbing them.

Life at frame
The way we build at Frame is grounded in our values. Alongside our operating principles, they shape how we work and how we win. We want our people to feel empowered, supported, and challenged, and for that to translate into how we serve our customers.
Start with Why - We ensure clarity of purpose before acting, building, or automating.
Bias to Action - We take ownership, move quickly, and iterate rather than waiting for perfect answers.
Rooted in Integrity - We do the right thing with data, money, partners, and decisions, especially when no one is watching.
Be Decent. Be Direct. - We collaborate with respect, clarity, and care, even in disagreement.
The Discerning Eye - We care deeply about quality, detail, and craft in how things look, feel, and work.
